International Women's Day
(March 2007)
On March 8th, 2007, New Acropolis Boston
participated in the celebration of International Womens Day
with the presentation of an inspiring and informative talk on The
Empowerment of Women Through Education. In 2002, Mrs. Bush made the
following remark at the U.N. on the same occasion, Education
is the single most important long-term investment we can make in the
future. For a school of philosophy, this is a constant focus.
As Plato remarked long ago, Education is a lifelong process.
Those who attended the talk were amazed to learn how education is
linked to reducing infant mortality rate, population growth, decreasing
the spread of infectious diseases such as HIV and malaria and generally
increasing health, offering more opportunities to the youth and raising
standards of living.
