Words of Wisdom...

"He who commits injustice is ever made more wretched than he who suffers it."
-Plato

"The hero is one who kindles a great light in the world, who sets up blazing torches in the dark streets of life for men to see by. The saint is the man who walks through the dark paths of the world, himself a light."
-Felix Adler

"Let us reach for the world that ought to be -- that spark of the divine that still stirs within each of our souls."
-Barack Obama

"When in doubt, tell the truth."
-Mark Twain

"This City is what it is because our citizens are what they are."

"Problems are not resolved by turning our backs on them. On the contrary, if we do so we give them a chance to attack from behind."
-Jorge Angel Livraga

"There is a silence into which the world cannot intrude. There is an ancient peace you carry in your heart and have not lost."
-A Course in Miracles

Our Founding Principles:

  • To encourage collaboration and cooperation amongst diverse groups and individuals in an effort to make a positive change in the world today,

  • To offer an eclectic approach to better understand ourselves and the world around us by applying timeless and universal principles for effective action today.

  • To promote the discovery of the very best within ourselves and to nurture it in others.

Since the dawn of time, philosophy has played a major role in the development of cities, culture, and leadership. The new challenges of our times call for the return of this source of timeless wisdom, as a driving force in shaping a new and better future enlightened by humane values. For 50 years, New Acropolis has worked to revive philosophy in the classical tradition, hence contributing to harmonize cultural differences and offering a foundation for active and global peace. Today, hundreds of branches in over 45 countries around the world gather citizen-philosophers passionate about the pursuit of human solidarity.
